Long story short:
I'm long term housebound disabled, wonderful husband has cancer.
Anything needing to be done outside of home is his domain but can only be done when he is on a "good day".
Had planned to go to Iceland today to do our Xmas shop, sadly poor love has come down with - not one but TWO new infections which have put him back in his sick bed. So, no trip to Iceland for shopping. Sadly Iceland do not yet offer Internet shopping in my area
Rang Iceland and spoke to the duty supervisor, explained situation. Not a problem she says, we can do your shopping and get it delivered this afternoon, will just check that I can manually enter your card for payment. :T
At hearing this, the delivery guy (who is standing near her) says that if there is a problem, he will pay with his own bank debit card and we can bank transfer to pay him back!!
Iceland were fine with my card but WOW!! What a kind thing to offer. I am floored by the kindness of both of them, especially considering the time of year and how busy they must already be.
So, Iceland has secured my family as loyal customers FOREVER, and has restored my sagging faith in folk.
Thanks Iceland

That's lovely of them, especially at this time of year when they must be very busy.
I don't shop in Iceland much myself, but recently i have gone in for a few things. Everyone always seems so cheeful and I've had great service each time...including the manager packing bags at the checkout!1 -

There was a wonderful documentary about Iceland on BBC recently, well worth watching when you see it repeated.
The owner is a real maverick the type Britain needs more of, they frequently win best employer in the UK Awards.
Try emailing the boss (Malcolm Walker) as I seem to remember that he reads all his emails from customers. If he does read it he will be very proud and I would not be surprised if the Iceland staff get a thank you from him http://www.!!!!!!!!!!!!!/s.php?id=90611 -
Well Done Iceland.
I'd echo what dacouch suggests with the suggestion on dropping Mr.Walker a line. I'm sure he would appreciate hearing about that excellent customer service from his team.1 -
That's lovely!
Goes to show that good customer service does still exist! I recently read an interview with the boss of Iceland and he seems a really lovely guy, so as has been mentioned, drop him an email!

Iceland's not really my cup of tea product-wise but apparently it's a really great company to work for and that gets my vote every time. I bet it's no coincidence that the customer service is good - happy employees treat people well, IME. Employers are wise to remember that - be kind to your employees and they'll be kind to your customers... which means greater profits for you.
