How do I get Smilies back?

When I try to click on any smilie I get a letter rather than the smilie e.g click on Jumping for Joy get :j showing in text. also seem to have lost Spellchecker.
I did a clean and deleted cookies etc previous to this. Have checked settings on Edit Mode.

Yes, just upgraded, so sounds like that could be the problem.
How do I go back to IE 10?

I have tried to delete IE 11 and reinstall IE10
from the Windows Website :T and now have Smilies back 
What a pa-larva. Also got Spell-checker back working.
Can't believe this has taken nearly ALL DAY.
Thank you for setting me on the right path, any simple reason for this problem and will they sort it out, or is it best just to stick with !E10 which seemed to work perfectly well to me :j0
