MSE News: Tesco and Asda cut petrol prices

Why is it that 20 years ago diesel was 10p/litre cheaper than petrol?Ultrasonic wrote: »Why should two different products have the same price? You may as well start a campaign for whisky to cost the same as milk.
Why the turnaround? the products have not changed that much.0 -
That is now 12 times this year that we have been informed by MSE Helen (et al) that the supermarkets are dropping their prices. So how the hel.l are they still around the price at the start of the year. January = 130.7; November = 129.0!
This the same carp that Tesco do with all their prices, smoke and mirrors but the public are on to them (see their results).
But the great sin is that MSE Helen et al fall for this nonsense every month and like good lap dogs get regurgitating it on here. Time to stop this nonsense MSE!!!0 -

If you were to remove the ridiculous amount of tax on whisky there probably wouldn't be much difference between the two on the supermarket shelf.

Asda put the price up last week, I have to put petrol in the car on Monday and price goes down on Wednesday.
Happens every time.

Anyone else noticed that all the supermarkets quietly upped the price of their fuel 1p on a litre this week?
Strange how there was no big announcement
Even stranger that the increase occurred at all, what with crude oil prices (in USD) falling and the GBP gaining in strength against the USD.
Suppose it might be a case of supply & demand, what with everyone going back to work in their cars after the Christmas break and all the lorries getting back on the road.
Perhaps there'll be another big announcement of how the supermarkets are helping us all slash the cost of motoring in these austere times by knocking 1p off a litre soon?
Towards the end of this month perhaps?
