First Utility cheaper than British Gas...confirmed by British Gas

I thought fellow MSE-ers would like to know about a bit of correspondence I had with British Gas...basically during a complaint procedure they confirmed that First Utility was 16% cheaper than they were and sent me £130 difference! Result!! Details here: coletti.co.uk/?p=2420

Top marks for switching and saving, and for getting a refund for the period the switch was blocked (at least I think you got a refund).

However, you were on standard (expensive) tariff. There is no need for anyone to be on standard tariff, and yet millions probably the majority in the UK, are still on it.

So the headline "FU are cheaper than BG"? Yes, in your area, for your consumption and for those still outrageously on standard tariff. For the savvier amongst us....who knows.

even on a direct debit discounted F. U. rates are better compared to BG ... Gas .. BG is 4.7p/kwhr compared to 3.7p/kwhr etc. I got my freind to switch 2 months ago and so far we have`nt heard much from F.U. other than a couple of emails. Nothings happening.. now I understand why they have such a bad reputation..
