Scam Warning on BT account

Hi All, Just to make BT customers aware, we received the usual BT account online advising the amount would be taken by direct payment from our bank. A few days later, an e-mail arrived, appeared to be BT logo, stating that payment had not been made owing to insufficient funds & to confirm bank details, which we obviously didn't! Although we knew funds were there, we checked with our bank ,all well there & the original bill not presented by BT. Next step was to ring BT,no easy task at the best of times,as we know! On this occasion however, we did get through quite quickly, they were very helpful & advised we had rec'd a scam & to forward it to abuse@bt.com.So, hopefully all well but watch out for this scam. Would be interested to hear if anybody else has received this. Regards, Brian.

It's a modern variant of an old scam letter that used to turn up saying a problem with the payment and to phone to discuss:

Thank goodness I upgraded from ie 3 that stored my online passwords for BT and LloydsTSB bank.
I feel a lot safer!0
