Disabling windows defender updates?

Hi there,
I have avast, comodo and malwarebytes on my computer so feel I am well enough protected and have turned off windows defender.
These last few days the windows update icon has appeared on system tray in windows 7 asking me to update it, Its a bit of a niggle when I switch desktop on and the message above it appears.
Hiding the updates is no good as it only comes back again when a new update is available.
I have disabled auto scanning and realtime protection as well in windows defender before I turned the whole program off.
I just want it to stop reminding me about any updates.
Any tips really appreciated.
Thanks

Look in Computer Management and select Services. See if there is a service associated with Windows Defender still running. If so, right click on the entry, select Properties, and disable it....
