I forgot about this thread...in the end after a Twitter "complaint", they got in touch outside of my conversation with customer services and extended the credit I was entitled to (i.e. what I actually spent without an extra £5 they'd applied as a time-limited offer) for another year. So I need to keep my eye out for something I want before this December which will be difficult since I unsubscribed from all their mailings and I'm loathe to sign up again since it took me a couple of hours to track down the right combination of links to click and hidden pages to visit to get myself off their list. For an online company, their mailing list management is shocking. I meant to look up whether it was actually in breach of ICO guidelines (they provide a one-click unsubscribe link which is a requirement, but every time I tried to click it it was dead) but didn't really get chance between Christmas and going back to work.

Their official Twitter account is @Groupon_UK so you may find you have similar luck to me if you mention them and they see it.
