Ordered item as said in stock, money taken but on backorder?

I don't get why they think 6th december is a reasonable end date time for xmas orders (even though mine was a general purchase and not intended for xmas) when other like companies are still posting xmas orders.
The estimated delivery time of 7-10 indicates a back order in itself, i.e. that the supplier has stock, and they will order stock from the supplier to fulfil your order, but they do not hold the item themselves. This would explain that bit.
And as said above, most international shipping websites quoted the 6th as their Christmas cut off, I know I ordered from a few where this was the case. In most instances I've received the order well in advance of expectations (I have 3 items here now and not due until after Xmas), but they will want to under promise and over deliver.0 -
It's not clear where they ship from to be honest.
If they don't physically have the item in their warehouse it should not be classed as in stock imo. To me it seems like false advertising.0
