Hi,
Does anyone know how I can get an energy quote online when buying first property.
It seems like most sites are for comparison if switching supplier or moving house. I am moving from parents house into my own property.

Websites & Url appreciated.

Unless you know approx the consumption of your property a comparison site is not any help.

Initially you will have no choice but the use the existing supplier as you will be on a legally binding 'deemed contract'; usually on their most expensive standard tariff.

For comp site purposes use just use UK average annual kWh consumption.
For the existing supplier, you can enter anything you want-it doesn't matter. The point is to get the comparative data.
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)
  • Introduce yourself to the neighbours, find some with similar occupants and property and tell them your situation with regard to energy companies. They might help you out with some useful information. It also gives you the chance to introduce yourself and build friendships.

You could always start with your parents. Ask them. Stick the numbers in a comparison site and view the results. You may then understand some of the mutterings under the breath they'd utter behind you.
