My solicitor is closed from noon on the 24th Dec until the 2nd Jan, I expect that is a pretty standard time for them to be off.0

Most firms - legal and removal - will wrap up this Friday (20th), and won't open up again until Monday 6th Jan. The housing market pretty much takes a break in terms of completions for a fortnight.0

I don't know any which are closing as early as the 23rd or staying closed as late as 6th!
Most are open on 23rd (some only until mid day) and reopen on 2nd Jan. some will be open or a day or two between Christmas and new year but you would need to check all the way up the chain. If you have exchanged then presumably your solicitors would not have agreed a completion date on a day when they were closed.
If you have not yet exchanged, then in considering dates also check whether the specific person dealing with your case will be in - even of the office is open, some individuals may have taken extra time off and while they will (should) arrange for colleagues to cover, the colleague will not be as familiar with your mater.
Do check when your agents will be open as if they close, you will need to ensure that alternative arrangements are in place for keys to be collected/ releasedAll posts are my personal opinion, not formal advice Always get proper, professional advice (particularly about anything legal!)0 -

Thankfully both our buyer's solicitor and the one we're using to buy a house with are only closed lunchtime Christmas eve to 2nd Jan. shame I don't know what our seller's solicitor is doing.I don't know any which are closing as early as the 23rd or staying closed as late as 6th!Don't listen to me, I'm no expert!0 -
I checked out with a few removal companies as I believe that I might be moving on the 3 January. They will be working on that day. I also checked with my solicitor and he will be working.Treat everyday as your last one on earth! and one day you will be right.0
