Any offline automatic photo tagging/cataloging sortware

We have 'lots' of photos stored on various hard drives - about 50gb (some videos). At the moment these are only searchable by date of taking (or even only date of filing:eek:)
Now we all know that facebook can automatically tag images with people's names. What would be really useful would be an offline programme that could scan all my photos and at the very least put names to all of them. Even better if it could pick up other info such as night/day, people, view, tree, countryside, snow etc etc.
Do any such products exist?
Thanks

I've been using Photoshop Elements for a little while now, might be worth a look - use it to edit/tweak RAW images, and organise into albums. Currently just over £50 - http://www.adobe.com/uk/products/photoshop-elements/features.html0

Sounds great - especially being free

It seems a bit unclear from the promotional material if the auto tag can recognize people or subjects or only things like 'blurred', 'out of focus' etc?I think....0
