Parking Charge Notice - Euro Car Parks

Hi

I've received a Parking Charge Notice letter from Euro Car Parks this afternoon. I had parked my car at a shopping centre car park and apparently overstayed the free parking period (3 hours) by an hour and a half. I honestly didn't see the signs in the car park and had two young children with me and we were shopping.

Reading some of the threads I've got a little confused. The general consensus seems to be, to ignore the letters but according to the sticky Newbies thread I should appeal to ECP.

Does anyone have a link to a template I could use, as apparently I should use the third person tense and provide as little information as possible.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Was this a windscreen PCN or a postal PCN?

    When was the "event"?

Postal = NtK (see the NEWBIES thread) so what you need to do is already spelled out:

Soft appeal (to get a POPLA code)

POPLA appeal and win. (Create your POPLA draft and post it here for comment).

It was a postal PCN and the event took place on the 4th Dec 2013.

Thanks for the advice. Do you have a link to an appeals template I can use when appealing and requesting a POPLA code?

You can say what you like, really. Go for what you said here - didn't see signs as shopping in many shops with 2 children.

But add, "regardless of that, I can not see how your charge represents any genuine estimate of loss that either you or your clients may have suffered. In fact, shopping and spending money with the retail outlets on site is why the car park is there. So either cancel the charge or send a POPLA code"

Don't admit it was you with the children, though. You are the keeper - the contravener was the driver.

Welcome to the parking forum but it seems you haven't read it yet! A few months back, we got soooo busy with new threads, all the same, that to ensure no-one missed out on advice I spent hours writing a sticky (info) thread for the top of the forum, giving it capital letters saying:

NEWBIES!! PRIVATE PARKING TICKET? EVEN AN OLD ONE? ***READ THIS FIRST*** Thankyou!

and making sure it covers in simple terms what all the acronyms mean, how to appeal with a DOZEN linked examples...how to win at POPLA stage...what to do if you miss the appeal deadline & get to debt collector letters stage...and yet every day, newbies don't read it.

But please don't disappear, we do want you to win at POPLA so please post any questions...AFTER reading the stickies (info threads 'stuck' on the board at the top).
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
CLICK at the top or bottom of any page where it says:
