If you KEEP getting these emails the chances are they are spoofs (there's a lot of them with similar descriptions). If you are potentially a Power Seller, you should log in via the Power Seller buttons and it tells you if you are eligible or not. Its based on number and/or value of sales over 3 consecutive months.

Don't click any links in the Emails you are receiving.

    It's all explained here

    http://pages.ebay.co.uk/services/buyandsell/powersellers.html

I'm currently a Bronze PS - think I got it from selling my car on there, second time I've received it (sold my other car as well!)

I think you may be trusted more with the PS simble next to your username, apart from that I don't really use the benfits that a PS can use

I'd take up the offer and see for yourself - it can't be a bad thing?

I'm now getting emails off EBay saying that I'll lose my PS status due to not keeping within the criteria of a Bronze seller - bothered, no ;)

No, you don't have to pay more fees.

Yes, there are minimum selling requirements to keep PS status, it's done on either number of items sold or amount of money taken, whichever gives you the higher rating.

You don't have to be a business.

As a Bronze powerseller, you get access to Powerseller support via email, which I've found very useful as you tend to get someone actually reading the email and sending you a helpful response first time. At Silver you get access to phone support and at Gold you can have your own account manager if you want. You also get access to the powerseller's discussion board.

I can't see the point of being a power seller if you're not a business, I'm about to qualify (big whoop:rolleyes: ), all it means to me is hassle and the pressure of having to keep up sales, if I went on holday for a couple of weeks and didn't list anything, my power seller status would probably disappear. It also seems a bit ridiculous that someone with 100 x 99p sales is the same as a business with 10 sales x £75. It should be the monetary amount that's important not the number of sales.

It doesn't work that way. You'll get at least a couple months notice before your PS status is taken away. IIRC they send you a warning 30 days after you drop below the qualifying level and then suposedly review your case 30 days after that. However, I was a silver PS but stopped selling for personal reasons back in the beginning of March, but I have only just this week lost my PS status.

Why? The chances are the person making 100 sales will be in more need of help/support with regards to technical problems, etc. than the person only making a small number of sales, simply because of the number of times they are using eBay. However the person selling higher price items is more likely to need help in terms of getting scammed/disputes, etc. due to the money involved. Both sellers however are likely to need extra help, which is why the PS levels are set the way they are. :)

Some buyers see Power Sellers as more trustworthy, so you do pick up sales from these people. However, some people don't trust Power Sellers, thinking that they are either a business, untrustworthy or that they can't provide a good level of service if they selll that many items, etc. so you can also lose some sales because of it. Other people expect you to offer an impecable level of service far above and beyond anything you would noramlly expect to receive from a retailer, so you can get a few awkward customers.

On the whole though, I personally think it is better to be a PS than not, especially as you get better/quicker support from eBay. However, at the same time you don't want to become a slave to it. There is little point working yourself to the bone to keep your PS status, or to reach the next level, as it just isn't worth that kind of effort.

I am a powerseller and have been fro 3 years now. There are absolutely no benefits of being a powerseller.
Some people only buy from powersellers but then others wont buy from them.
As people think you are a business if you are a powerseller they expect you to answer emails immediately and often leave neg f/b if you don't act like a business!
    Good luck whatever you decide!

I am a powerseller, and tbh I dont think it makes any difference to the sales, you get the same cut and paste replies from PS support if you have a problem (you just get them a bit quicker), ..the only benefit is the PS board, this is a wealth of information, help, and chat, there is a community on there that will help with business and non business problems,

I would say it is free to join, you can switch off the logo so no-one knows you have joined, and then go and have a lurk and see if you like what you read on the PS board

Have to agree with Colin, best thing is the PS message board, loads of info and nuggets of useless info too, other than that makes no difference at all. I don't even show my logo.
