Buying A Scanner

Options
I'm looking for a scanner to scan some photos. Was wondering if anybody had any recommendations for what's best around the £50 mark?

Try argos item number t.gift.gifHP Deskjet F380 All in One Printer.
670/2371 t.gift.gif39t.gif£.99I have had this one for a couple of yrs does the job and came down in price
  • Thanks for the advice Sharon. Unfortunately, I don't have much space and need to be able to fit the scanner under a desk when it's not in use, so will have to get a stand-alone scanner rather than an all-in-one.

I've just picked up a Canon CanoScan LiDE 70 for just under £50 from Amazon nice and small supported by Vista and runs just off a USB Cable so no big power supply and it's very small and thin just over the size of A4 been well impressed with the S/W and scanning I have done so far under Vista Ultimate 64
    Cheers

  • Sorry to hijack the thread slightly....
I'm looking to scan lots of documents/papers over a period of time and was wondering if there is a cheap but sturdy scanner that can do this with a sheet feeder for bulk scanning.
The quality in terms of dpi is less important as it's mostly for printed papers however, reasonable speed is essential.

    Any help would be appreciated

Don't know how much they are at the moment, or even the equivalent model, but I have a HP Scanjet 5530 photosmart scanner. It has an auto feed for photos and will also convert negatives and slides. I have converted thousands of our old photos to digital with very little effot. Highly recommended if you can find one - good luck!

I also strongly recommend the little Canon Lide scanners. At work, we've just bought a Lide 25 from eBuyer for just under £34 (inc. VAT).

At my last place of work, we had an HP scanner. Nice piece of kit, but the supplied software was "as user friendly as a cornered rat". We ended up using the Windows XP Fax and Scanner Wizard application instead.
