Read receipts for emails

I use Outlook Express for a couple of reasons, one being I can request a "read receipt", I know it may not be returned but my question is, I occasionally use Gmail for anonymity, but there does not seem to be a similar facility unless I have missed it, is there one in Gmail?

Thanks

Not when sending on free gmail via the web. You can set up to send gmail via your email client though, and read receipts work OK with that.

I use my main Gmail account through OE, and it is set up so that any replies to it or messages sent to my Gmail account as well as my Yahoo account, come into my OE account which is always open on my desktop as long as the computer is switched on, and sending "normal" emails via OE go through Gmail, but to use my extra emails with Gmail to remain anonymous it sounds like I cant unless I link them to my OE account which I did not want to do.

Yes I know you can never be 100% anon, but with extra gmail accounts there is a small chance, I don't want the throwaway emails as I do need to accept replies some times days later.
