Currys / PC world cashback rip off

Is anyone else having issues with recent cashback offers from Currys / PC world? I have tried to claim a £50 cashback for a purchase of a surface pro 2, but they are saying I should have filled in a form which I was never given. After ringing their premium customer service line to try and sort it they promised to call back but didn't. So I rang again, gave the reference and the person said the case was now closed. But I have had nothing for them. he then said call back in 2 days If I have still not received anything - so they are making some nice money out of my phone calls!! I have today tried to claim another cashback for another purchase, but the website is not accepting the details. So once again I have had to call the premium number.

I smell a rat here. I suspect this is a ploy to make it as hard as possible to claim to hope people won't bother or to make a bit of cashback from the premium customer service line. Can I report them to trading standards??

  • Thanks. So angry I didn't think to search first.
  • I just put my coupon code in the box on the refund site with no luck. I then entered the receipt number instead and it said processed. The money will go to the account that I requested in the online form. Problem is that I didn't fill in any online forms! Pc world will be getting a visit me thinks.

I filled in the online form for my £20 cash back on xmas day, I got a confirmation email within 3 hours and it will take up to 28 days for the money to hit my account.

A friend filled her form in at the beginning of December and had her money within 7 days.

It was an incredibly simple form to fill in and took around two minutes.
  • Went in to PCworld this evening after having problems registering claim for cashback online, and getting nowhere via 0844 telephone helpline. To be fair they were very helpful in store, and went through on line claim with me, which seems to have gone through ok now. If you are trying to put details in on line from your in store till receipt, and all the boxes are being highlighted as being incorrect, try again putting the last 6 digits only from the product code. The example at the bottom of the page circles all of the numbers, but the guy at PC World only put the last 6 digits in. Also, check that you are putting the right product code in as well, the tablet I purchased had 2 codes on the receipt, so try both. I seem to agree with others that they are making it as difficult as possible to claim cashback, hopefully the above info will help others, and if not, go into the store you bought from and ask them to put your claim through with you in store. Good Luck and don't give up!!!

I've actually just checked my account and the cash back was paid in on 31st. I have to say I'm very impressed, I found the form very simple and self explanatory to fill in and to get the cash back in just six days which included a weekend and a bank holiday is hardy shoddy service.
