interference when surfing and listening to music

A few weeks ago I may have downloaded something during an audacity upgrade which may have left me with a background interference problem when playing music. This is an intermittent loud buzz for a split second, possibly when computer is busy.
Thought I had removed everything via malwarebytes/ AVAST
It seems to be worse using IE than firefox.
I have been following this procedure. to isolate problem by unticking boxes in the services menu. Certainly unticking everything solves it. Trouble is it doesn't take a lot before it disables access to the internet.
Are there any service programs which might specifically cause this?
using old version of winAmp, firefox 27, IE11, windows 7

How odd, sounds wrong from the description, most bizarre. Is the buzzing like a 50Hz mains hum?
These problems are almost impossible to diagnose remotely but it's always worth unplugging and replugging in everything. Services may be a red herring, one of the ones you kill might be the audio driver/whatever and just mask the symptom.0 -
Very curious and coincidentally I have been experiencing something very similar this past week when I've been listening to mp3s from my hard drive or Youtube videos.
On each occasion I was wearing my Jabra Revo Bluetooth headphones and just assumed it was RFI on the Bluetooth frequency from some external source. It's like a wasp briefly flying through your head :rotfl: and purely by my hearing I would expect it to have a 'sawtooth' waveform, not the gentler waveform that 50Hz, or more commonly its harmonic 150Hz would create.
I'm running Windows 7 Ultimate, and IE11. Other than changing to IE11 recently, I can't think that anything else has changed here.
I'll have to experiment some more when I get time and the inclination to listen to more music (I have to be in the right mood).... DaveHappily retired and enjoying my 14th year of leisureI am cleverly disguised as a responsible adult.Bring me sunshine in your smile0 -
Yes it's only for a odd second every minute or so, and loud, not a hum. It coincided with the timer thing coming on, so it's almost definitely something going on in the background. I'm sure I've had this problem several years ago.
Probably haven't got rid of all traces of spyware from that download mentioned on the 4th Dec.

I could try an image restore back to June! Tried a normal restore a few weeks back when first encountering the problem but the restore failed.0 -
I suspect this problem may have been down to malwarebytes running in the background at the same time as AVAST since it's cleared up now I have unticked those boxes. Not sure how it was activated to do run in background though. I occasionally run Malwarebytes as a separate one off check after AVAST, but try to avoid it in background.0
