what laptop?!

Hi all!

While Im no technophobe, Im useless when it comes to deciding what make and model of things and end up buying something because its cheap!

Anyway, for Christmas I want to treat myself to a new laptop but there are so many about these days that I have no idea what to go for and if it’s a cheap price if it will break after a year!
I only want something for playing games and surfing the internet and watching dvd’s. I have had a look online and spotted a Lenovo thinkpad T61 (only £150) but I’ve never heard of this brand!

Are they a good brand/make/model?! Or can you recommend a laptop that isn’t going to break the bank?!

Lenovo are a respected Chinese company. That's an old laptop though and at that price will almost certainly be secondhand. Here's an example from Ebay for £130:

Provided your one has got at least 2 GB of memory and you won't be downloading too much stuff it should be ok. Just make sure it has Windows 7 or better as its operating system because updates from Microsoft for XP will cease in the new year and Vista is cack.

If on the other hand you want a brand new laptop then you're very unlikely to get one for less than £250. I've just had a quick look and I couldn't find anything decent for less than £300 so, if you want to go down want to go down that route I suggest you wait until after Christmas and ask again then.
