Replacement faulty part

Bought an Ipad from my local three store on contract. Three months later charger cable is not working. New one costs £15 which isn't too bad but I would have expected original to last longer than this. Apple store is a pain to get to so I was wondering do the three shop have to replace it or can I expect them to fob me off to apple?

It sounds to me the Three store was fobbing you off. The first 6 months it's up to them to prove you caused the damage to the charger, and if they couldn't they should have replaced or repaired (sounds a bit daft I know) free of charge.
