    Dye (Die) Early?
I used to be indecisive but now I am not sure.

I first noticed a few grey hairs when I was 22, I am 45 now and over 60% grey. I have never considered it, but apparently once you get to a certain percentage (not sure what it is) dying will not really work that well.

I will say though that when I was single in my 30's there seemed to be a lot of women who liked my grey hair. Probably thanks to a certain Mr Clooney. I also once met one young lady who thought I had deliiberately dyed my hair grey to look more mature ;) - apparently I have a "young" face, which helps!

  • RELAX!!!!!........................... The more physically relaxed you are the less ageing takes it's toll. More correctly it's suppressing emotions and drives that is THE cause of ageing. Damage and oxidation are only the end result and not the cause. Every time an emotion is suppressed, it adds resistance to the nervous system function, lowering the function of the bodies organs and hormonal systems. It's this which slows down repair in the body and makes ageing appear to accelerate.

Grey hair shows in specific patches on the head which relate to brain areas and emotions. The sides of the head around the ear and just behind are the most effected places.

Deep relaxation tends to counter this to some degree. However you cannot really beat getting your emotional responses right because no emotion should be suppressed because it can very adversely affect the function of a persons body which can open up disease pathways.

Oh, He Shou Wu herb can be helpful but it does take a long time to get an effect. Approximately a couple of years to show results. This herb has a long history of use for grey hair from which it gets it's name.

A few grey hairs appearing doesn't necessarily mean you'll go white overnight. I'd chat with your mum as that might give you an idea what to expect.

Yes, it certainly doesn't mean you'll suddenly go completely grey. I started getting the odd grey/white hair at about 30 but it's never really progressed from that. I'm 42 now and I still only get a few.

My mum and sister were both very grey by the time they were in their early thirties but that gene seems to have passed me by thankfully.

I noticed my first grey hair at the age of 15 was also balding by the age of 18, so no there is nothing you can do about grey hair unless you dye it.

Don't have kids, I'm sure they are the cause of mine.

I agree with this, I noticed my first grey hair at 26 when my firstborn was a few months old! So naturally I made the connection ...

Grey hair means melanin is not being produced, natural part of ageing and largely determined by genes, having said that things like smoking, diet etc can cause this to happen sooner rather than later.
It doesn't matter the amount of grey you have for colouring but obviously the more grey the more upkeep.
As someone already suggested high/low lights is a good idea as there's less obvious re-growth and looks more natural.

I guess applying hair oil daily would help to a certain extent to prevent getting grey hair.
How? Hair follicle has no melanin, that's why it's grey.

Chinese medicine has been treating grey hair for 2 millennia so there is something that you can do about it if it concerns you. Not as quick as dying your hair but at least it lasts.

I have seen TCM herbalists who I would guess were around 50 with virtually no grey hairs, I could see only one or two grey hairs while standing above her head while she was seated and with black hair, grey hairs are very easily visible.

    Nothing stops grey hair.

I've been 100% grey since my 30's. Most of my family, male and female, are the same.

I have a wonderful hairdresser who colours my hair (3 different colours) to stop me looking 20 years older than i am. I love him. When i am the correct age for grey hair, i will stop colouring it.

Avoid chinese herbal stuff, nothing works.
