This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.

  • Morning all
Yay, TTFM, here's hoping your last week isn't too stressful.
Sistercas, glad you had a good night out.
I've managed to drop out of my works do as I wasn't sent the details in time, lol.
Mild here this morning, fish fed, hubby has a cuppa in bed he's not at work today due to the very complicated shift system. I'm setting off soon & feeling sick at the thought of it, still only one more week 'til we break up. I'm going to ask for suggestions on being more proactive, then smile & grit my teeth.
    Have a good day everyone.
    Hugs Hester
    Chin up, Titus out.

    Morning All

Not sure what the weather's up to, not looked out yet. Last week of term for me too, Hester - hope you get some answers. TTFTM - Hope your week isn't too long.

Had a very busy day yesterday, cleared all the rubbish from the shed and cellar that the previous owners kindly left (think 20 odd empty paint cans, old electrical stuff and hosepipes), that took 2 trips to the tip. Put the garden furniture in the shed but the rest in the cellar - the shed is a bit rotten so don't want to leave anything decent in there. Feel like that's a big job done and luckily it stayed dry while it was done.

Went to Ald! to use up a voucher, actually felt like we stocked up a bit this time. Friends came over to put up the wardrobe in my room and then other friends came for supper. DD made chicken and leek pie which was lovely. Had a good catch up, they are off to Thailand for christmas and new year.

Salad for lunch and left overs for tea, DD is working till 8 so she can get a quick something when she comes in. Hoping the tv chap comes today to sort out an ariel, would like to have a working tv by christmas!

Enjoy your week, stay safe, take care. XX

    Morning :)

Òn a mission to clean house today, want to get all my housework out of the way early this week so I can concentrate on getting the presents wrapped before the kids break up.
Not sure what's for tea tonight, will decide later.

Hugs and spoons all round xx

Hester hugs, that appraisal is a load of rubbish. Be more proactive, not as if you have time to go looking for work. Play dumb, and just keep asking the how you can be more proactive. It's up to them to tell you how since they raised if in your appraisal x

  • Good Morning everyone dark and wet here in Kent, but not too cold. Its my gorgeous grandson Ben's 18th birthday today and I just called him.He is buzzing as he is so pleased with all of his presents (mostly cash) which as he only earns a paperboys money once a fortnight to him is a fortune.Bless him he is in his las 6 months of his A levels and as there is very little work locally him and his pal job-share a paper-round taking it in turns one week on one week off.
I shall be eating at his house tonight as my DD lets the boys choose whatever they want for their birthday dinner
NSD for me at all as I have enough to keep me going for the next week and then I will be away until the end of the month.
My next door neighbours DD had a little boy yesterday and I bet she is pleased as she was 10 days overdue. He was a whopping 10lb.10ozs and his Mum must have had a time of it as she is only a slip of a thing bless her.I have dropped a card and a couple of cardi's I knitted for the baby round last night before I went to DDs and she was taking them into the hospital for me.The baby's Dad looked shell-shocked ,but then he's not much more than a kid himself at 18.Oh well another new baby in the road, makes a nice change as there were only old biddies like me for ages.On my right-hand side there is a young Mum moved in recently and she has two little ones and I have bought a little present for each of the children. I think Layla is 2 and the baby Lottie is around 4 months.Bless her thye Mum knocked on the door to apologise for the baby crying and I told her not to be so daft I have had babies myself and crying babies don't bother me at all.She seems a nice young lass and very polite, as is her OH who knocked and said if I needed anything just to give him a knock. So nice when youngsters keep an eye on the older folk in the community :):) I must seem ancient to them :):)
Right enough of the gabbing ,time I got a wriggle on andhad some breakfast then off on the school run with my youngest DGS.He is getting quite excited now as Christmas looms ahead.Busy week as I have his school concert to go to this week and also the carol service at the schools church.
Have a great day whatever you are doing and keep warm and safe
<<hugs to those who are down, blue or poorly>>

    Morning everyone

Hugs to all those that are feeling sad/poorly x

Still very dark here, but a bit blustery.

DH up and gone to work early but not stupid early.

Lunch yesterday was excellent (most of us had roast but 1 of the boys had scampi and the other spare ribs) - luckily, I made a good choice with pub that I booked - it's difficult when you're booking in an area that you have no local knowledge of - I just went on the reviews and it said the food was good and it was! I'd booked for 1pm as wanted to give us enough time to get from the rally driving to the pub - we had lots of time and went to the pub and asked if they could bring our booking forward - we had drinks first too - so was all nice and relaxed. The pub was practically empty when we arrived and I was internally having a panic as to why it was empty on a Sunday lunch - but they'd had a big night the night before and were saying you could barely move in the place. Wasn't stupid expensive either which is always a bonus! We'll remember it for future. The rally driving experience the boys went on was fabulous - the instructors were brilliant and the boys got a really good experience of being driven in a rally car and having a go with an instructor sitting beside them. It was really muddy but it's a proper set up so there was a indoor building all on a raised level so you could either watch from inside or on the outside on a balcony with a roof. The boys absolutely loved it and it was a really memorable day that I know they won't forget.

Today will be a manic Monday as it's our town's Xmas Market - it's brings the centre of the town to a complete standstill - lots of people visit from outside and lots of local people come into the town and so they come to our offices today. At least it'll make our day go quicker!

Remembered to get the sausages out of the freezer, so they are defrosted and now in the fridge, dinner tonight will be sausages, mash, veg and gravy.

    Keep safe and well x

  • Morning all

Oh goodness me I ache this morning, I think we need a new mattress, every morning I'm waking up feeling like I've been ran over, hopefully manage to save enough pennies to buy a new one in the new year.

A day in the kitchen is in order today after the school run, SC Oxtail stew and herby dumplings for tea this eve, also want to cook some mince pies for xmas eve, I've never frozen them before so hopefully they turn out ok, sausage rolls, mini pizzas and cheese straws are also on the list to cook and freeze ready for boxing day.

DH is home today so I'm going to get him doing a few errands, I need a few parcels posting, a visit to the farm shop for veggies and pet feed store to stock up on food for the animals for over christmas, then he can get on with cleaning the animals out....... he is going to wish he went to work ...lol

Hope you all have a good Monday....((hugs)) to those that need them x
