Just popping in dust down the diary and update!
Mortgage now down to £37500
Fixing on new deal in next two months. Hoping to get the HSBC's deal of 1.74 for two years.
Two years should see us knock another bit off so even if rates rise we should be in a good position then.April 2021: Total debt £16016
Goal: Dec 21: £120000 -
Well done on such great progress so far. That's some great OPs and rate reducing.0

Ive attempted to post for the last few weeks but with the new baba it proved difficult!
Ive been on this site now for just over three years and reduced my mortgage from£69k something to now just below £36k
I didnt meet my target for last year or my dec target but i have a new decent car and got work done around the house so cant complain.
As im on maternity leave at the moment I changed the term back up to 10 years to reduce the monthly payments for the next while but still hoping i can clear it by dec 2020. I intend to overpay by 10% every year and starting this year it will be a payment of £3600. As we have used all our savings last year, this will be tough. Will do my best to keep the diary updated!April 2021: Total debt £16016
Goal: Dec 21: £120000 -

Hi everyone,
It's been a few years since I last posted. I have been dipping in and out over the past while. I was a little embarrassed to post on here as I did something very un MFWesque, I borrowed more!
Well we had one of those life moments were you take stock of everything and decided our priority was to finish the outside of our house to enable us to enjoy a good quality of life. We have no regrets so we feel we made the right call.
However it needs paid back. So to the details. We borrowed £25,000 over 10 years at a 5 year fix rate of 1.89%. Currently paying £232 a month back. Currently we owe £17265 on the 'loan.
Actual mortgage is now down to £22000, paying £450 a month. So not actual too bad as we have continued our overpayments despite borrowing more!
Having read my diary over, my thinking is we are back to where we were when I first posted and Dec 2023 is really our MF date. Which will still see me MF before 40.
I just now need to focus the head, get serious about these Ops and see the mortgage monster defeated!
Fingers crossed!April 2021: Total debt £16016

Congrats on the new arrival. Children have a way of changing our plans. You have still achieved a tremendous amount and I'm sure you added value to your house too.Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

Just a little update.
My regular saver matured and so I over paid the max I was allowed before ERCs.
Mortgage is now £20200.
Loan is £16065. (That's £65 is annoying but can't be helped!)

It's hard to believe it's the end of another year. I've been on MSE for just over 6 years!
Still slogging away at the mortgage monster.
Beginning to finally feel like I can see the end!
Mortgage is now £18300, loan is £14900 So total debt £33200.
I've just signed up for the mortgage challenge of 2020. Here's hoping I can smash my target of 3300.
Wishing all on the board lots of luck with their own journeys this year!April 2021: Total debt £16016
Goal: Dec 21: £120000
