Viewing multiple email accounts on an IPad

This is likely to be a really stupid question but I have looked everywhere for an answer so hope you don't mind.
I have an IPad 2 on wifi and currently have 5 google account and one bt one on it. I used to be able to see a list of each inbox for each account as well as one with all emails in date order from all account.
This would show in landscape view and I also had a search box at the top to search for emails. One day this disappeared and now I can only see one account. I have been on and checked the settings and if I deselect all account and then add them back on one by one I can see them all on one view. However it doesn't update nor does it bring back the multiple view of the accounts.
Please help I'm sure I have just hidden the view option somehow.

When you say you deselect the accounts and add them back in do you mean in the main 'mail, contacts, and calendars' section in settings, or in the 'edit' section in the mail app?
As for updating, do you have the accounts set to fetch on a schedule? I think it defaults to manual fetch so you may need to change it.

Yes the main one in settings. The edit button seems to have gone as well. I'm on latest sotfware
Set to manual in settings thanks so now downloading. It seems to be the top left corner I have lost will try to upload a picture.

Have you tried closing the mail app down (double tap home and then swipe up) then restarting the app? Can't think of any way the edit button would disappear from the mail app! It is that button that lets you select what inboxes you see.0
