  • I had a chat with the girls on the till. They said when their doors opened at 6am people were running into the store.

I was excited but not that excited lol. I got some bargains for my kids and husband at 11am, no need to run like that.

buy what u can at start of the sale, then when they allow refunds/exchanges and further reductions, buy it all again for cheaper and take ur originals back. I do it every year.

the key is waiting for impulse shoppers to refund...
  • I always think next are quite crafty when they open at 5.30 am on Boxing Day-they know that people who have queued up and sacrificed their Boxing Day won't leave empty handed so they put the crap out first and then the better stuff that will definitely sell later on in the day when more people come in-the crap that no one really wants will be put out first

wondering if anyone can shed any light on this as I've never bought anything from Next until now. I had a look at the online sale on Christmas Eve and decided to buy a sofa for our new house - £375 reduced from £700 so a decent enough deal.

I added the sofa to my basket and clicked to buy, which required me to sign up to the site (not unusual at all). I think clicked to buy the sofa, expecting to have to input my card details. Instead, the site informed me that I had purchased the sofa and I could select a delivery date. The site said I didn't need to pay unless I liked the sofa when it came - ok, fairly unusual considering I haven't needed tk confirm my identity at any point. So, theoretically you can just sign up for anyone to receive a sofa that hasn't been paid for.

Anyway, today in the post I received a credit £600 credit agreement that I needed to sign and return (with a £77 fe!). Can anyone shed any light on this while I wait to hear from Next?

    Seems bizzare to me.

Actually what happens is at 6am people run in and grab arms full of items, sometimes the whole family do the same. They then sort through what they want and dump the rest. After the first hour or 2 of people doing this its mainly crap that is left.

Stores don't like keeping items in the back as it means staff are off the shopfloor to go and get it. A few stores may have items they could not put out and this we be replenished later, but the good stuff goes out first as we want it gone.

Occasionally some good stuff may come down later in the day as the stockroom is rechecked for missed sale items, but this is usually less than 10 items.

Also dont forget in most stores staff get the first pick, so in smaller stores with less stock they take lots of the good stuff and leave the crap

Further reductions are few and far between this year, also if you return an item and try to rebuy it you may be out of luck as it may have already been sold online and so it gets sent back to the warehouse.
