Passport photo

  • I always take our photos and print them on my photo printer, as a family of 5 I've saved a fortune over the years on photos for passports, driving licences, oyster cards etc., never had one rejected.

I tried this once but just couldn't get the photos small enough. Do you have a special programme?

I have a little HP compact photo printer that has a passport photo option, and does several sizes for other countries like US and Australia too.

I always do ours at home and edit them if required. I have an old version of Photoshop but Gimp, which is free, can do it as well.
  • +1 for shoot 'em yourself.
digital camera, white sheet (or bathtowel if clean & enough light) & then take preferred shot to asda or boots for passport prints. Change from a pound but you need to read the rules on photos.[/QUOTE

A white background is not acceptable. It should be off white or light grey

I have done passport photos for us and friends, and they have never been refused.
Just make sure the background is light/neutral and the cropping allows the head to fit in the required guidelines.

I just used epassportphoto.com and I was happy with my photos, but after spending hours getting what I thought was a good enough photo, the Post Office wouldn't allow me to use them. I don't think I can do my own photos, because I cant afford the time to get it rejected again, so I will have to go to a studio and pay loads, unfortunately. Snappy Snaps seems to be the nearest for me.

Photo booths are in lots of Tesco etc stores and we also have one in our WHSmith.
    £5.00 for 4.

    Why were your photos rejected?
