Urgent advice needed, can I change my whole holiday?

To cut it short I booked a surprise holiday for my fella and his 2 close mates for xmas (travelling next may on his birthday). Its 1 week all inclusive to spain in an apartment that holds 4. I have now discovered hes cheated on me and safe to say i wont be giving him the holiday now. It costs £1300 and I have already paid off £550........... is there any possible way I can change the whole holiday around so that I can go with my 4 children the week after when its half term or is that likely to cost a whole lot more?? Any ideas as to what I can do? dont wanna lose out on the £550 ive paid :(

    Depends what you booked exactly.
If it was a package then you may be able to make changes on payment of amendment fees, which will be in the t&c of the booking.

If you booked flights and accommodation separately you may or may not be able to change flights, depending on exactly what/how you booked.

If you read through the Ts&Cs it will give you information about what to do if you want to make changes....you could always give them a call if it is not clear on the info you have

I think half term will cost a whole lot more. I would go with the kids on the week you have booked and then all that will be required is for TC to change the names on the booking (for which there will be a charge I suspect)

However, if the apt only holds 4 you may have to ask for a larger or an extra bed.

Good luck, I hope it works out for you.

Cant do that as school wont allow time off for holidays and don't wanna risk getting into trouble with education welfare. Will have to give them a ring i guess
  • A week is not going to get you in any trouble with education welfare. As long as the kids are not in Years 10-13, I'd say go. So many parents do it, it will not be a problem unless they are regularly off.

Can you not get someone to look after the kids and go for a week with some of your friends?

Isn't it only the 'lead name' who can change a booking?

If so, even if the OP booked and paid for the holiday, her partner will be down as lead name as she isn't travelling.

I hope I'm wrong though and the OP can change the holiday to benefit her self and kids.

I don't know if that's the case or not.

I gave my daughter a pair of TC flights last year that she changed to her and her boyfriend. I just gave her the logon details.
So even if it is only the lead name that can change it, the OP may simply be able to do it online where the systems won't have a clue who she is - or even over the phone or live chat etc.
Change is inevitable, except from a vending machine.

Of course it will also get you fined most likely something the previous poster "forgot" to mention.

(FWIW I forgot to fill out a holiday form back in the days when heads could give permission. My son was off for a week and the head did send education welfare round..... As there was no previous absence issues -and the head knew we were on holiday but had spun some daft tale about concerns as unable to contact us by phone (nothing on my voicemail or my Mum's who lived (as the school knew it was a very small school) downstairs and was housebound more or less -even more so as I was away so wasn't out anyway who was the emergency contact. Apparently the head got a rocket about wasting EW's time however it does show that "just a week" can be enough if school want to be difficult.)

Let's hope that that is the case for the OP. :)
