Sorry I was more talking about your earlier post where you say you have to drag it.

I thought it was a purchase you made yourself but reading back, it looks like it may have been that or just a general comment to the OP about the usage.
You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means - Inigo Montoya, The Princess Bride

I've used another model so I can't really compare but they do the job, just not as light work as you might imagine.

The X5 is a very good steam mop, when it works.

They are prone to breaking down after a few months though and I sent ours back twice, it broke again so in the bin it went.

The product works as intended, but the reliability is terrible, however for the sake of this thread I would also say the OP has no right to a refund.

The advert is a shopping channel isn't it, so any claims can only be made if bought off the telly channel, you buy it off the telly and if it does not do as advertised you can claim unfit for purpose

There is nothing implied in the shop just the blurb on the box so you will have no claim, unless it does not do what's on the box

I think it's less black and white than that. Otherwise a manufacturer could claim whatever they wanted in adverts they paid for, and the customer wouldn't have right of return to the shop.

The Sale of Goods Act is worded "goods are of satisfactory quality if they meet the standard that a reasonable person would regard as satisfactory, taking account of any description of the goods, the price (if relevant) and all the other relevant circumstances" and "fitness for all the purposes for which goods of the kind in question are commonly supplied,"

So if the manufacturer is making claims about the product, a reasonable person would believe them. Should the product not meet those claims, there is right of return - even if the retailer wasn't the one who made the claims.

It's a bit greyer with a third party shopping channel making the claims. Would a reasonable person believe them, or take with a pinch of salt? That probably depends on the claim.

(All of this is supposition that it applies to the OP, as we don't know what the actual problem is).
  • We have a couple of steam mops and the X5 is by far the best of the two. I have recommended this model to my friends.

If yours is not performing very well then it may well be faulty
