On-line discounts not reconised!

Im not sure if I am the only person having this problem, but with Christmas coming up I thought it would be nice to get my mum a pic of her grandchildren.

Ive used Boots before for photography prints, so naturally went back. To my suprise they were offering 50% off (using discount code 50xmas13)

So we placed the order on Thursday night. But the code would not work. The web site wouldnt accept it.

So Friday we contacted boots for help, but noticed the code had changed so we tried the new code (four codes for different products) Again not reconised, Boots told us to contact snapfish (closed at the time so I contacted them on Saturday)

Now credit to Boots, they have a UK based call centre....Snapfish based in India. The rep know nothing about Boots.com and couldnt see the offer on line. She knew it was the same offer on Snapfish. After about 30 minutes on the phone she informed me that I was to complete the order without the code and she would refund the discount. Which according to the order she has done.

I have also registered this as a complaint with boots! but where do i stand on phone calls costs and equally is this just a technical issue or false advertising?

Well there was no breach of contract by anyone so no loss of bargain, and no losses suffered. I don't think you have any right to claim for phone calls. You may get a gesture of goodwill as a result of your complaint though.

I'd say it was almost certainly a technical fault, unless anyone has evidence of intent.
