Caravan Storage in South/West Wales
My Mum is looking at buying a touring caravan and siting it somewhere in South or West Wales.
Dad is too old to tow caravans now, so she wants to find a site where she can store it all year and then they bring it out when she wants to go down - or keep it out all summer etc.
Ideally we're thinking of Tenby way, but she would consider the Swansea area. I've sent off a few enquiries via websites, but I'm wondering if anyone has any first hand experience.
We live in Barry, so she doesn't want to travel any more than 2 hours, and she wants it nearish the beach/sea.
Any help would be appreciated - especially as it means me and dd will be able to use it and have some holidays this year :j

I would have thought that this would be very expensive as what you are basically asking a camp site to do is to allow you to pitch your caravan at their site all year round.
When you say your dad is too old, do you mean too old to hitch the caravan onto the car? If so have you looked into getting a device fitted to the caravan that 'moves and lifts' the caravan by remote control? Not sure how much they cost to fit but I have heard that they are worth their weight in gold.2014 Target;

i mean my dad is too old to tow a caravan - he's nearly 70 and has def lost confidence in his driving - and so has my mum!
i've had a couple of answers from the visit wales website, and there is one that stores for £4 a week and then puts it on a pitch when you require for an additional £5 - this seems very good, but if anyone else can offer personal experience i'd be grateful.0 -
That sounds great, where is that?Order of events: Banks lose our money -> get bailed out -> were inflating GBP to cover it -> now taxing us -> next will grab your funds direct -> things get really desperate to balance the books. What should have happened?: banks go bust and we lost our money much quicker0

hi,
we used to keep ours at a site a few miles outside tenby, at tavernsprite....cant quite remember the name but pant farm rings a bell.....???
they stored the van and then poped it on a pitch for us when we needed it,
the site itself it great, they had a small park 4 the kids and a bar, but it was very quiet an never any trouble or noise at night, the owners were great too....
not much in the way of shops localy but there was a post office near and a pub or 2 as far as i can remember...
i dont think there was 2 many sites there so finding it should be easy a
hope that helps a bit

Not Wales. We used a touring van years ago and kept it all year round at stowford farm meadows, near Ilfracombe. I just had to ring them and they would take it out of their storage area and site it. I`m sure this is the sort of site that the op wants. Wasn`t that expensive either0

I live in the Swansea area and have a tourer. I looked into having a seasonal pitch & storage together in the Pembrokeshire area and they are very hard to get - waiting lists.
Also you have to be careful as I have spoken to several people who have done this and when they phone to site to ask them to put the caravan on pitch ready for them they are told that the site is full and they cant do it - this has happened on many occasions and they have now taken the caravan away from these sites.
Another thing to keep in mind is that if your parents want anyone else to use the caravan at any time or to stay there with them then they will have to pay the normal nightly charge for them on top.
There are several in Broadhaven, Freshwater area etc. Do a google!0 -
I know this a really old thread, but it came up in a search.
I've started storing my van recently at a place called Llandow. It's really secure and fairly cheap (I pay under £26 per month). The people there are lovely and access is really good. Just 20mins from my home in cardiff.
Their website is at llandowcaravanpark.com
Hope this helps people searching for storage in the future.0
