Good morning folks ,well not too cold at the moment and there is a sliver of sun trying to poke its head out :):)
Eldest DDs coming for her strangled eggs and coffee this morning.I have a stack of stuff for her to take away with her.My sis-in-law gave me 4 boxes of books hard back and paperbacks that she didn't want anymore so I am distributing them here and there .DDs ma-in-law loves biographies and at 76 doesn't get out a great deal in the bad weather so I have a big bag for her which DD will deliver for me when she sees her tonight. Her in-laws live around 30 miles away so it saves me a journey.
I also have a huge bag of chick-lit books to donate to DDs friends at her school.apparently the teachers and TA's love these sorts of books (not my cup of tea,but each to their own:):))
I have sorted out some other catagories, some of which I will read and some will go to another friend who collects for the Demelza hospice funds. So I will find a home for them all eventually :):) I was horrified that sis-in-law was going to bin them I can always find a home for almost anything :):)

I did a small washload yesterday and got it damp-dried and it will finish off in the conservatory on the airer.
Had a lovely 'pottering' day yesterday and just mooched about indoors doing odd jobs.NSD's for me until the New Year as I have soreted out my cupboards and freezer and have more than enough food in ther.I'm glad that all of the presents and cards are done, wrapped, and posted so I can now relax and enjoy the festivities.I am away from Christmas Eve until new years day so I am just running down the food in the fridge a bit and eating from the freezer.Tomorrow is my DGS Bens 18th birthday so I will be at his house for dinner ,Tuesday night is pub quiz night and I get a meal there as well.Wednesday night I am out to dinner with a friend of mine and Thursday I am at youngest Dds for an evening meal as its her birthday (she can't possibly be 44 I'm much too young, but then her sister was 46 last week :):):)), so not much cooking for me this week.:):)

Well I'm just about to have a shower and wash my hair as Dd will arrive around 10.00 so I'd better get a move on
Hope you all have a nice day whatever you are doing
    Cheers chums JackieO xxx
  • Morning all,

Not much OS is going on here today, DH volunteered us to help shift a friends shed down her garden so off to Folkestone to do that around 12, then get back to the village in time for the carol service at church for 4:30.

So a quick tidy round this morning, then when back from church we will have a late tea, pork chops, mash, cabbage, carrots and gravy....then bath for us all then I might finish off the ironing when DS is in bed.

Hope everyone has a lovely Sunday x

    Morning all,

just back from chapel - got wet as it rained all the way home, then stopped as I was on the doorstep. Sounds really silly but I took my time and listened to the rain. when I was young there was a crack in the gutter outside our house and the tarmac had come away in places too, so when it rained there was a series of mini waterfalls - such a lovely sound. people think I'm dotty listening to water features, but one day I hope to hear the sound again.

Today - well, what didn't get done yesterday will be finished today. DH was very tired and is still under the weather, so we'll potter along the list.

M&S £10 meal tonight - woo hoo! - so something snackish for lunch.

I've a yen to have an outside tree - there's an old one in the attic, and I think there is concrete and sand in the garage, along with a nice galvanised bucket. If I cement the tree into the bucket and run the outdoor lights out of the ground floor window, it should be fairly thief proof, especially as the students have mostly gone home.

Have a great day all x
I can cook and sew, make flowers grow.
  • Morning :)

Thanks for asking after me Snoozer.
I'm fine. Noah on daily psych review at the moment and seems peaceful. I will be glad when school ends and he's at home!

Just me and mrs milks here as DH has gone to deliver a computer. Friends of ours have a grandson who is autistic like Noah and he had very exact specifications for the computer system he wanted.... So Tony has built a computer for him... He will be a happy boy at Christmas. Noah gone with him to play with their dog:-)
I need to package up the blackberry and Pinot noir jam made for teachers and therapists, ditto the salted maple butter..... And get brown sugar biscuits made today....then they can be given tomorrow.
Noah wants to watch Polar Express later and we have church.
No roast today.... Sausage casserole, mash and greens.
    Need to get wrapping finished.
Have managed to get a scrub suit to fit Noah and his much wanted Littmann cardiology stethoscope .... Freaking expensive but he will be happy!
Baby on my knee has become very smelly.... Best sort it:eek:

    Afternoon all,

hester your appraisal sounds awful, I had to train for 6mnths to be able to do appraisals but then my manager was hopeless, I used to have to tell him wat to do! I'm so glad to be out of the workplace, particularly education, it's worse than anywhere I think.
TTFTM I watched Jamie Oliver make veggie curry this morning and he blitzed a cauliflower in the blender, removed the stem, and covered and cooked in the microwave for 7 mins, looked like a fab alternative for rice and much less calories.
NPM your home made gifts sound gorgeous x
    JG beautiful picture
Luxor we wanted an outdoor tree this year, they were expensive so we ended up digging a shrub out of the back garden and planting at the front, vaguely Christmas tree shaped and added red lights, looks fab
    Hugs and spoons as required:)

Dh and I have had a drive over to Lymm this morning. We are really hoping to move to cheshire in the near future. Lovely villagey feel without being too pretentious if you know what I mean.
Just had a quick sandwich for lunch as I have a scan on my leg this afternoon (the other one) so it will be curry for tea later.
Dgs is currently being flown around the lounge dressed as superman so I'm off to find a quieter space:eek: have a great Sunday x

Working hard to get rid of our debt.

One freezer defrosted, the other sorted & an empty drawer available for my Yule meat order, I only have 2 small 4 drawer freezers under my fridges so this wasn't the mammoth task that it sounds.
Thank you for all your comments and advice re my appraisal, I have taken them on board. DG I must admit I do struggle to see how I can be proactive in what is essentially a reactive job.
Schools are now not only results driven but also finance driven as well, we have lost all bar 3 of our most experienced (expensive) teachers, they have all been replaced by cheaper NQT's. Of the 3 that are left, one is leaving in December, one at Easter & the other one is now only working part time. All support staff have been told there will be no pay increases as we are all at the top of our band, this year we received a cost of living payrise for the 1st time in 5 years, it amounted to less than £2 a month. The teaching staff receive a cost of living rise yearly .
I have to consider myself lucky as our head told my last line manager that he wanted rid of me & another staff member within weeks of joining the school, so I'm lucky I've hung on this long as the other person left in July.
Oh well, I shall try to enjoy my evening & forget about work.
    Have a good evening everyone.
    Hugs Hester

Hester I know you have to work in order to eat, but imho that bunch aren't worth wasting precious spoons stressing over. Have a lovely evening, enjoy getting your Yule preparations done, and, well basically, knickers to the universe!:D

Bailey & Cassie arrived yesterday, immediately treated the bungalow as their own, and are currently flaked out on the lounge carpet, having had a slightly soggy game of Chase The Tennis Ball in the back garden. They're both moulting for England, so my normally beige carpet is currently covered in black hairs!

No matter; they're only here til tomorrow, so I'll do the Dys0n Tango once they've been picked up, all ready for Lizzie Sprocker's arrival next Friday.:D
If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)

You are all ma king me feel jealous, you are so organised!

Has been very wet and windy here for last couple of days, so not going to get greenery until tomorrow as it will be too wet to work with...thats my excuse and Im sticking to it.

Need to do a good check to see what I have for whom, finding DGS 1 tough this year....have got him a Man United calendar which I know he will like.....maybe will just add a book and some cash....a lmost 13 is tough to deal with.

Want to finish second coat for DS3s dogs today. Think couple of tea cosies an scarves will mean that I am well sorted for unexpected visitors.

Have just put some lamb in oven for dinner, which will be eaten with squash, roasties and corn on cob....we love corn and have found one that ? Ldi sell frozen really nice.

Hester, once again I am horrified o your behalf.....I would certainly insist on written evidence of your shortcomings, think that you could even sue on foot of head's stated want to "get rid" of you.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend, stay safe and well

    Marie
