Damp/mould

I have a problem that is either damp or mould. Several months ago I had to have my bedroom carpet sprayed with insecticide. It killed the bugs but some time later I noticed a damp smell in the room. On investigation I found a green dry powdery substance on furniture clothes etc. I seem to have got rid of it from everywhere except one place.
It keeps coming back on the underside of the 4 drawers in my bed. it is powdery and green. I wiped it with soapy water then with mould and mildew spray but the smell is back and so is the green powdery stuff. It is nowhere else but is playing havoc with my asthma.
Any ideas how I can get rid of it for good. Would white vinegar work?

  • Oh I'm no expert, but sounds to me that the carpet isn't getting dry under the bed. Can you remove the drawers for a while and air the space under There? Can you borrow a dehumidifier from someone to draw the damp Out?
I expect there will be more suggestions soon. There a clever bunch on here:).

  • The carpet is dry now but I suspect it may have been wet under there for a while. its not even on the carpet just under the drawers. Its confusing to say the least as its not in the drawers or on their sides. Thanks for your reply anyway.

That's why it sounds like there Iis damp air building up in the space between the drawer bottoms and the floor.

  • I would take the drawers out and wash them with a mild solution with bleach in it and leave them out for a couple of days so there air gets under the bed.

Do you have any room under the drawers when they go back? If you do I would suggest sprinkling bicarb on a flat tray underneath - you could just put it straight on the carpet and leave it overnight and then hoover it up - will absorb any smells and if the carpet is even remotley damp underneath it will help with that.
