EDF didnt ask for final gas meter reading
Options
I applied to EDF to switch both my electricity and gas from British Gas to EDF. Everything on my electricity has gone through without problem however with my gas they failed to ask me for a final meter reading when they switched the supply. My EDF account had, and still does, show my gas switch as still being in progress so I had no reason to believe it had been switched. I only found out when I received a final bill from British Gas for my electricity showing my account was in credit and when I logged on to my account could not access my gas account. I phoned them for a refund of the credit and was told that they could not do this without a final meter reading for my gas which had switched on 29 November. I phoned EDF who advised that this was an error and they would provide an estimate. I am not happy with this but they seem to think this solves the problem but I am not happy as my refund is dependent on the reading. Last year was cold, this year is mild, and this year I was on holiday for three weeks so I think an estimate in comparison to my use last year is not fair and I could end up out of pocket but have no way to prove this. Am I being unreasonable or are EDF intentionally failing to see my side of things and that as it was their mistake they should come up with a better solution. Any advice anyone please would be gratefully received.

An estimate is perfectly acceptable, because what you lose on one account you gain on the other. So the only difference is the unit rate variation. No free lunch, and no free laptop0

15 days unit difference is hardly going to be high as the op has said it out weights it's self.0
