Hi - I hope someone can help please.
E machines laptop E640 - when I switch it on, the screen stays blank (most of the time).
It works fine when I use an external monitor.
When the screen is blank, there are no 'shadows' - its just completely blank.
When the laptop is booted up, sometimes if I move the screen as if it close it and open it, then the screen will work fine.
I don't have a battery for it so just use it from the mains.
I have unplugged it, held down the ON button for 60 seconds, rebooted and still the same.
Any ideas of how to fix it please?
Thanks

Sounds like the video cable from the video board to the screen may be a bit loose and only making intermittent contact. If it's out of warranty then you could try opening it up and checking it. http://www.ehow.co.uk/how_7403928_open-emachines-case.html If it's still in warranty I'd take it back to the shop and get them to fix it for free. You can lose a loose goose.
You cannot loose a lose goose.
Get it? Now use it before you lose it.
or - Try using it - not losing it.

Thanks Gyro - I will take a look at that - sounds like a reasonable suggestion.
