Final Loan Statement Arrived

So I have finally paid off a loan I took out with Lloyds TSB 5 years ago. I took out the loan to cover payments I couldn't afford after getting stung for being someone's property guarantor.
I've had the final statement through and the top line reads:
Personal Loan: £3843.25
Loan Protection Insurance £1354.89
I'm not really clued up on the situation about PPI etc but I didn't even know I had it.
I obviously signed for it at some point but I was immature and naive and would've taken the money off anyone at that point if It meant not having the pressure of 6 months rent to pay for someone else.
I've been in the same steady, above avg wage, job for 10 years and never missed a loan payment.
I wouldn't have knowingly taken out insurance on a loan for fear of missed payments because I would've been sure I could stick to the commitment.
Do I have a case for making a claim for £1354.89 ?
I'm also not sure what problems the seperation of Lloyds TSB is going to cause if I do make a claim?
Thanks in advance.

Yes, make a complaint that you were paying single premium on a loan. It would help if you can show you could have afforded the payments with a generous sick pay allowance or another income or savings also.Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi0

Yes I have a good sick pay allowance, so will put that to them.
Thanks!0
