Sky HD loop to TV with 2 scart sockets and no HDMI, and DVD - help!

so, we recently upgraded to SKY HD, new box is fitted and works great with the TV.

Now I need to figure out how to link up the DVD player so it all works.

Please help, I really have no clue what I'm doing and it needs to be in really simple terms, because honestly I'm not an idiot, but everything I've read so far on various av forums etc has my head spinning!

my TV has 2 scart sockets and no hdmi socket - so what do i do to make the loop work please?

  • So are you connecting the SkyHD box with a scart lead?

Does the TV have no HDMI at all? - sorry just re-read that it doesn't!

Does the TV have any other connections available?

If it is just a DVD PLAYER then it can connect straight to the TV using the other SCART connection?

If it is a DVD recorder then that is a different issue...

Have you paid to upgrade to an HD box and HD subscription?

its a dvd player, not recorder. I got the HD box free from Sky as we hadn't upgraded for such a long time and Virgin were pretty competitive in our area.

YUP! Nothing else required at all. Maybe you're thinking back to when we used to have to loop everything together through a VCR (that was just so it could record different sources)

So the box was free, that's cool... now you're not paying for the HD subscription are you? Your TV isn't HD so you are wasting your money if so.

no, i'm not paying anything per month for HD channels. Maybe I'll claw my way into the digital age with a new telly in the next year or so :D.
