I can't send invites to friends on Facebook - suggestions?

Every time I try to use the 'invite friends' option on Facebook (when using a game or app) the invite friends box opens but just hangs.
When I play Candy Crush the list of friends is blank.
Does anyone have any suggestions as to how I can fix this (if I can). It started last week, corrected itself after about 2 days then a day later happened again and has been like this since.

What are you viewing FB on? A phone (what type), a PC, Mac, tablet? Are you using an app and have you tried via the webpage instead - or vice versa?0

What browser? Candy Crush doesnt work in Opera for me0

I'm using a desktop PC and it's the same in IE10 and Chrome. It's all apps and games and is limited to the one FB account (I just tried other family member's accounts and they work).
