Returned Item to Ebuyer went missing

I bought a tablet computer online from Ebuyer in August. It stopped switching on and I returned it November as per their return policy (collected by their arranged courier). After 1 week I enquired - was told it was being processed. 10 days later I enquired again - was told they would look into it. Latest enquiry - I am being refunded as they didn't ever receive the product. What are my rights on two fronts 1) they fibbed to me in their first response and 2) that my tablet is now 'out there' with automatic access to various accounts. Thanks. PK

You've had a full refund, which is what you were entitled to, so what more are you expecting? A computer telling a customer service person that something was being processed is hardly a fib, which is probably what occurred.
The bigger the bargain, the better I feel.

I should mention that there's only one of me, don't confuse me with others of the same name.

I agree with cattie for question 1.

For question 2, it is up to you to protect your accounts with adequate security installed on your devices, a remote wipe program installed and a lock code/password to stop anyone gaining access with an auto wipe with so many incorrect attempts.
  • it would be your responsibility to get the tablet to them, surprised they are even refunding if they didn't recieve it

According to the OP the item was collected by a courier arranged by Ebuyer, so Ebuyer had responsibility for the tablet the moment OP gave it to the courier.
  • Being processed can just mean it's been collected by the courier.

They confirmed it gone missing in the system and paid a full refund.

As for the security concerns, that isn't their responsibility.
The simple remedy for this is to log on to all the services that might be compromised and change the passwords.
