Hi all.. I completed on the 6th and my broker told me he had sorted out my buildings insurance on the 4th when I exchanged. I have not received any documents as of yet however received my life insurance documents today. (commenced 6th dec)
When should I start to wonder if the policy has even been set up? is it usual to wait this long for paperwork? I would have phoned him tonight but didn't realise the time.. now I have to wait until Monday! so just wondering generally how long I should wait to get these things in the post x

The post is very slow at the moment due to the time of year. Very often insurance policy details can take a couple of weeks to come through. I know that mine did & in my previous property, I actually had to chase policy details up because I never actually did receive them.
Often if insurers have your email address they will email you a copy before posting one.
Can you check your bank statement to see if the DD has been set up & the monthly payment taken out or if paying the whole amount at once, if this has been taken? At least then you'd know for sure policy is up & running. The bigger the bargain, the better I feel.
I should mention that there's only one of me, don't confuse me with others of the same name.0 -
I have just checked and life insurance has set up but buildings insurance isn't. saying that My mortgage DD has only gone on today. I will have to chase it on Monday seeing as it was through a broker I don't have much info about the policy x0

Our providers email/fax confirmation of cover to the solicitor in advance of exchange and confirm the "on risk" instruction and address change on completion.
I get electronic copies and would forward copy to client for peace of mind, but I'd expect the paper docs to arrive within a week of the commencement.I am a mortgage broker.
