Credit Score Problems.Cant get anything

Hi
I am from Norway. I have lived in UK for 3 years and worked with the same company for the whole period. I have had 3 different addresses in this period.
I have tried to apply for different credit cards, eaven with halifax as I have used them for 3 years, but always been rejected.
All of them say that with my salary and no loan i should get it easy but no.
No Luck
I have now decided to try to find out why its always declined. I have filled in an online form for credit report from Equifax and will get that within 7 days.
I have also heard that its good to be on the Electoral Roll, but as I am from Norway i can not register.
So here is a cupple of questions:
1. Any good idea how i can improve the credit score?

2. I have only lived here for 3 years. It seems like they need 6 years of history. is that a problmem?

3. Are there other places i should check my credit score or will they all show the same

4. If i am declined a credit card. do i have any right to know why so i have a chance to complain and correct if there are any mistakes?

Hope for some good advices
Regards
Morten

Experian and Equifax are the two main credit agencies, make sure you get your Experian report too.

    Hi.
    Thanks for reply
So its not for sure that they will be the same?
Is it so that when you apply for a credit card with a company, you can request to know who they use to check your credit score, as i think i will have to go a lot of mailing and proving my address history to that company prior to putting in the application as I am not on the votas list
hmm. do i understand that correct?

A lot of credit card companies use both Experian AND Equifax, so it's worth getting both reports.

Here's Experian's online credit report request:

    Hi,
Why cant you be on the electoral role? I am from Sweden came here about a year ago but I have registered my self on the electoral role. As described above you should check your credit files and I sugest you to go for the high interest credit cards first like Capital One, Vanaquis etc as they are easier to get. They will help to boost up you credit rating so use them for at least six months and manage them well. If you havent got a mobile on contract then try to get one as this will also help in your situation.
    Wish you good luck!

Sweden are in EU and therefore you can vote in European Parliamentary elections thus have your name on the electoral register. Norway are not in the EU and therefore you can not go on the electoral register.

The OP may want to put a notice of correction on their credit file stating this, as well as appealing any decision with proof of length of residency and pay etc etc.

Capital 1, Barclaycard initial, vanquis, aquacard will be a good place to start. Remember not to many applications as this may effect your rating as each search will leave a footprint.
