Does using the Universal Jobsearch form part of the Jobseekers agreement?
or can you elect to avoid using it altogther if you're claiming?
"It depends."
Each jobseekers agreement is technically negotiated separately. It can be a term for you to need to use Universal Jobsite. You can also be mandated to use it. BUT you can't be mandated to click the button that gives your adviser access to the site. You can prove you used it via screenshots instead.“The ideas of debtor and creditor as to what constitutes a good time never coincide.”

Yes it is probably on the agreement to use it but you do not have to give them access to the account.Does using the Universal Jobsearch form part of the Jobseekers agreement?

I've just been requested to give them access, otherwise I need to print off every job I look at and post it off.
That is just part of a script that JC advisers are given to coerce and manipulate you in to providing print outs. There is no mandation to provide print outs or screenshots:
"Reviewing jobsearch activity - claimant using Universal Jobmatch (No DWP access to their account)
97. To help assess that a claimant is actively seeking work you may suggest that they show you:
prints of any number or all of the screens/pages detailed in paragraph 96 from their Universal Jobmatch account. However, this will not be possible for claimants who do not have access to a printer or cannot afford to print out copies of these pages; or
any number or all of the screens/pages detailed in paragraph 96 from their Universal Jobmatch account if they have access to the internet on a smartphone. Districts will need to consider the guidance on Restricted Use of Electronic Media in Jobcentres although paragraph 7 in this guidance enables offices to allow claimants to use their mobiles for this purpose.
98. If it is not possible for the claimant to do any of the above, or the claimant does not wish to accept cookies and so needs to use a DWP IAD, advise the claimant that they can login to their UJ account and print off copies of the relevant screens/pages from an available IAD in your office.
99. However, the onus is on the claimant to provide evidence of their jobsearch activity (by whatever means they choose).
100. Therefore if a claimant does not wish to do this, you will need to base your assessment on the evidence they have provided. If this is insufficient and you are not completely satisfied they have met the requirements to actively seek work, raise a labour market doubt in the usual way."

Note the parts which I have underlined or bolded. Phrases such as 'you may suggest' or 'advise the claimant that they can', carry no weight, they are merely suggestions and not legally enforceable.
You do not have top provide print outs, but can provide job seeking evidence by whichever means you choose, just make sure that it meets the requirements of your JSA agreement.0 -
Use the printers at the Job CentreI've just been requested to give them access, otherwise I need to print off every job I look at and post it off.
You do not need to log every job you apply for on the UJM at all. If their site was working correctly it would log all jobs you apply for that are advertised there and it doesn't.
You can use as many sites or methods to apply for jobs as you like and do not have to write this on the UJM, but keep a written document of the jobs you have applied for.
To give them access is NOT mandatory.
Ask to use a printer and see what they say and get it in writing! We’ve had to remove your signature. Please check the Forum Rules if you’re unsure why it’s been removed and, if still unsure, email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
I'm still confused as to the requirement.
My local job center do not have enough advisers, so they utilize advisers in another city who make contact by telephone every two weeks.
I still however need to go to my local job center every 2 weeks with my booklet.
I have now said I am not giving access to UJM, but they are requesting I email/fax them my job search record else my payment could be delayed.....
Do I need to prove my job search to 2 people?0 -
you can email them I guess that's the same as writing it all down and if you are sending to one person it makes no difference if its 2 people you email but you still do not have to give access to the UJM acctI'm still confused as to the requirement.

good info but if you don't give access, showing you ahve searched for jobs is going to be hard, what can you send them to prove a job search?
and also do you have to show them each job you look at or just a general "I've been looking " proof?0 -
So far I haven't sent my adviser anything just taken the booklet into my local job centre0

What's the time gap between you signing on and having to send the info to the other advisor(s)? Is it the same day, a week apart, what?
'Do I need to prove my job search to 2 people?'
If that's what they're saying at the moment then Yes, it's best to
