Hi All,
Not sure if anyone can help..
I've messaged Santander this morning as I have noticed transaction that is currently pending which I don't reconise. This is below, I've not brought anything for the USA.
11/12/2013 **9108 PURCHASE - INTERNATIONAL USA 43213433 £0.61
Santander have responded by saying the following -
Thank you for your email.
In response to your query, this is a tester payment to ensure the account is genuine, this is becoming more common as an anti-fraud prevention method.
Anyone have any thoughts?
Not sure if anyone can help..

Yes.
It will relate to something you paid for or intended to pay for.
It will also drop off.0 -

I think it is a tester payment to ensure the account is genuine. I am led to believe this is becoming more common as an anti-fraud prevention method.
In the unlikely event the transaction moves from pending to actual, and you still don't recognise it, then you should report it again immediately to Santander.
Chances are though it'll just vanish in a few days

Have you bought any apps on iPhone or Android that might have been billed in dollars?
What'sApp messenger for example?0 -
I've seen this before and it never became "real"
I also had a 'real' debit which was incorrect and Santander (despite some feedback here) sorted it out fairly swiftly for me.0 -
More of a concern is if the CC owner hasn't bought anything that is based in the USA, sold in the USA, nor any phone apps or anything, why has it even appeared?
For Santander to say that without any further explanation is a bit disappointing. But then maybe the OP didn't ask.0 -
61p = $1 so will probably be a tester payment, do you not see any details who has charged it, can you not click through for more details ? Cap1 give full details of the vendor for pending transactions the instant it is taken so the info is out there.0

Paypal does this to verify your account, might it be this?0

I have just had a Paypal one for 61p after changing my card expiry date.0
