For me anything over 6 needs a bit of choice (only starter & dessert). I would go with soup and for those with smaller appetites fruit or tomato juice. For dessert a selection gateau/trifle/fruit salad, whatever takes your fancy, served with cream or ice cream. This gives the ones with small appetites the choice of just having ice cream. Just one main course - you could go with the pheasant (never tried that) or fish pie (in which case a red type soup). The main thing is to get as much done before hand as possible so that YOU don't get indigestion. I think a sit down meal is easier to gauge the quantities, as a buffet could land up with everyone eating one type of food and loads of unusable left overs. Whilst with a sit down meal most of the left overs can be fridged/frozen. If all the buffet gets eaten you will worry that you haven't provided enough. Sorry that wasn't intended to turn into a book!0

I have 12 people coming to visit on Christmas Eve.
I was planning to do a buffet however my husband said he'd rather had a proper sit down meal and something traditional. He'd like pheasant but I think I'd need 4 to feed that many people.
Any ideas what I could serve?
Thanks in advance!
If you are cooking - whatever YOU want to do! Husband on a platter with an apple in his mouth?
