Do you need an estate agent?

Hi everyone, I've just set up this little quiz to see if in this day and age we really NEED an estate agent to sell our house?

The fees charged by some are 5% which can add up to a lot of money.

It's just market research, no personal details are taken, and I will be posting the results on my blog.

I would be very appreciative if you could answer these 6 questions.

If selling your own property was as easy as some people seem to think, wouldn't we all be doing it & wouldn't ea's be rapidly going out of business?

As a serial mover I've sold quite a few properties over the past few years, all via an ea, all sold quickly, one the day it went on market & the longest a house I owned took to sell was 4 weeks. All the buyers my ea's introduced were people already on their books, registered as buyers looking for a property similar to mine & in the same price range.

To me the ea's I've paid have been worth every penny. Oh, & most ea's are more than happy to negotiate a fee. I've always aimed for 1%.
The bigger the bargain, the better I feel.

I should mention that there's only one of me, don't confuse me with others of the same name.

We're paying a traditional high street agent 1%...

You can do it for a fraction of even our cost using an online agent.

Most people find houses on Rightmove these days. You need to use an agent/company that can put your listing on there, as you can't do it yourself.

Where do you get your information?
My home is usually the House Buying, Renting and Selling Forum where I can be found trying to (sometimes unsucessfully) prove that not all Estate Agents are crooks. With 20 years experience of Sales/Lettings and having bought and sold many of my own properties I've usually got something to say ;)
    Ignore......check!
