Problem - Using USA Appliances in the UK - help needed!

Haha I know it's a lot of trouble - but being completely useless with these things I didn't realise the issue with power transformers - I thought a straight forward adapter would do it. I know - stupid - but I am simply not tech savvy.
Final few queries some may be able to help with:
1) The issue I have is this was purchased via Amazon.com - if I were to request a return now it is classed as 'shipped' does anyone know, would I need to pay the shipping costs (both those paid to get it to the UK and those back? I cannot get a clear understanding from there website.
2) If the above is yes, the cost of shipping may mean I may as well just get an transformer. If so, I have seen the follwing item
"Goldsource ST-1500 1500 Watt Step Down/Up Voltage Converter 1500W UK -> US ->UKGoldsource ST-1500 1500 Watt Step Down/Up Voltage Converter 1500W UK -> US ->UK". I would post a link but as a newbie I can't.
Would someone confirm this would enable the coffee machine which is rated as 1150 watts to work if I bought that transformer? Someone earlier said it may not be enough? Not sure why that would be the case.
Based on your responses I will make my final decision! Thanks everyone for your help. And, yes, I know I should have thought about this before but it never crossed my mind!!0 -
As a couple have already asked, what is the make and model number. Make this so much simpler for other to actually look at.Mansion TV. Avoid at all cost's :j0

daveconnects that item you mentioned
Goldsource ST-1500 1500 Watt Step Down/Up Voltage Converter 1500W UK -> US ->UKGoldsource ST-1500 1500 Watt Step Down/Up Voltage Converter 1500W UK -> US ->UK
Is 1500 watts MAX. That maybe for a second or 2. Continuous output maybe much lower.
The spec sahe you need a transformer 1.5x greater than the power required.
So your looking at a transformer of 1725 watts. You need to check the continuous output rating. If its less than 1500watts it wont be enough.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
'Shipped' means what it says-it's on it's way, so you'd have to pay shipping both ways-and the UK import duty, customs charges and VAT on delivery.No free lunch, and no free laptop0

^^ These, OP. Help yourself"Part P" is not, and has never been, an accredited electrical qualification. It is a Building Regulation. No one can be "Part P qualified."

I'm 99.9% certain that this is the appliance in question.

The link isn't for Amazon, but I chose the Home Depot one as it gives the full spec of the coffee maker.0 -
So its a filter coffee maker with a milk frother that just makes Latte's, never knew what a Latte was when I watched Friends an Frasier.
Then realised its what we used to call frothy coffee at the milk bar in the '60s.
Mind you I always thought a Latte was made with a shot or two of espresso, and this hunk of junk (Grease reference) is a drip machine.
I'd imagined it was a bean to cup machine at least, O well.
OP Why not just use a Bodem french press and a milk frother?
Meanwhile I'll indulge in my morning Cappuccino, courtesy of my Nespresso machine and Aeroccinno.That gum you like is coming back in style.0 -
