Protected Content problem

Flushed with the success of using my Lite-On 5006 to back up a copy of one of my all time favourite films, I thought I'd try to back up some more.
My set up was simple: use the Scart out from a dvd player and put it into the Scart in on my 5006. Press play on the player then press record on the recorder. But up pops a message at the top of the screen saying Protected Content and it won't let me record. Any thoughts?
