Looking for ideas. My husband and myself work together, own business, children grown up no grandchildren yet. Making the most of going away on my own for Christmas free of commitments
For the last 2 years have been to Makadi Bay, Egypt all inclusive which is looking quite a bit more expensive this year would like a change. Will have other holiday during the year city breaks etc. enjoy these on my own or with OH
Temperature mid to high 70s, I like being on my own to read,
swim and snorkel,no skiing
Very happy on my own and happy not to speak to anyone for a whole week! no organised things, I am not a lonely single just like to escape for a while
I want to be away for 7 days, including Christmas day, from Gatwick, maybe all inclusive so I don't have to think or self catering so I can be alone,
Thought of Gambia but can't see anything for my dates or affordable
Open to any suggestions

Agadir or Canary Islands, demand may get in the way of great value for money.Posts are not advice and must not be relied upon.0

Xmas is always a very expensive time to go away and unless you book a tour operator package pretty much on the day of departure the prices will simply continue to increase.
Your really looking at africa or the middle east to get the temperatures you want without too far to travel for just 7 days. Be careful as some areas have their wet season around this time of the year.0 -

I had thought of that but was worrying that holidays seemed in short supply, as I don't mind where I go would say any time around 22nd or 23rd be worth waiting for to book?Loretta0 -

Agadir sold out
It is rare for anywhere to be fully sold out, particularly if you are flexible but with companies reserving and then release slots things can appear and disappear at times. Its a gamble to wait until the very last minute but if you remain flexible then you should get something.
Many of the larger chains have a guaranteed room availability within 72 or 48 hours for their hire tiered frequent customers so inevitably hold back some rooms. Once the guarantee window is closed those rooms are released for general sale etc0 -
Hi, have a look on this page for The Gambia last minute holidays: http://www.gambia.co.uk/Docs/Special-Offers/Christmas-Offers.aspx even if it's b+b food is so cheap out there, you won't need much spending money. We stayed at The Kombo beach a few years back, but a word of warning, if you don't want to be bothered by anyone this may not be the place for you. As soon as you set foot outside the hotel there will be people wanting to talk to you, or take you somewhere.
Not in a nasty way, but you did say "Very happy on my own and happy not to speak to anyone for a whole week!"
You will also need a yellow fever jab and malaria pills, which do add up.0 -
Canary Islands are right temperature wise & relatively cheap(you don't say your budget) I myself am going to Lanzarote got easyjet flights for less than £300 + luggage & got hotel all-inc for £250 so got a week from 21st to 28th for £550 + 1 x 20kg luggage between 2 means whole holiday was £569pp & I only booked it on Weds
