If you genuinely believe there is a risk to their life phone the police and if they don't find them at home they can phone the hospital and take it from there.

I would most certainly call the police first and not the hospital.

I quite often phone hospitals as I am a minister, to check which ward folk are on etc for when I go to see them. i am always asked for the patients address, and I explain why I'm asking why they are in and never had any bother.

because if there are three hospitals that the patient might have been admitted to, allowing for the time taken to look up their details, phone them, be put through to the right person and establish whether or not they had been admitted, the time elapsed could be an hour or more. Which could be the hour that makes the difference between the suicidal person surviving an attempt or not.

Far easier surely to notify the police, who will be able to trace them easily and therefore able to phone them even if OP doesn't have a phone number for them, and if no answer attend at the address to check that all is well.
