Onyko Zone 2 One Speaker not working

Okay, Im at a loss.

I have a Onyko 608 powering 5.1 in my main room, i have linked in 2 speakers in the kitchen and connected via zone two. I understand the connections should by analog only, and thats exactly what i have done. I have a PS3 linked up, and only one of the speakers works. So I thought ok, ill try the lap top, again connected via analog, but again same problem, only one speaker working.

So then i thought it must be the speakers so i change them around and now only the other one works and the originally one dose not.

Am I missing something really basic here? Because I'm out of ideas?!

As always thank you for your help

Richard

Tell us what you mean by zone two.

Yes, of course, Onkyo A/V receivers feature a Zone 2 line-out that allows an audio source to be distributed to another room equipped with an amplifier and speakers. Users can play the same audio source in both rooms, or play different sources in both rooms simultaneously.

OK, so you swapped sides, and the problem moved with the speaker from side to side? That tells me either the amplifier or speaker is faulty.

Try them with another line-level source other than the Onkyo. If you still have the problem, fix/replace the amp or speaker that's faulty.

    Hi

I have the same amp as you and I love it :)

Looking at the manual as I am work your run 2 x RCA connectors (Left and right) to another amp so to speak.

I would do the following :-

1; Move the remote amp and speakers to the same room as your Onkyo. (pain but easier in the long run)
2; try another set of RCA cables or swap them round.
3, be methodicle, you need to swap one connection at a time to try and prove which prart is causing the issue.

You know its not a speaker but if you work with one connection from tha amp at a time (say the left Onkyo channel it will make it easier)

That way you should be able to pin it down.

    Good Luck :)

    Ben

Yes, i swapped the wires over on the zone 2. and the other speaker worked. So i dont think its the speakers.

Just to let you know.. I wired it all up wrong!! i looked at the zone 2 sockets and added one speaker to them vertical rather than horizontally. I was really kicking my self after i found out. It all works fine now. :)

I have to sort out how to get analog from my Apple TV box now...

    Thanks again for your help.

    Thanks again for your help.

If the Apple has optical audio out, you can get a DA converter to give analogue L/R for around £12 off eBay
