The latest update: the LL has requested an extension to the deadline initially given to her to provide her evidence. She apparently needs more time to gather her evidence.

This seems like a bit of a joke given that the reason we raised the dispute in the first place was the unreasonable length of time it was taking for them to return or communicate a dispute with is.

    Argh!!!

    what a PITA...

how do you know about this 'request' ?

has the extension been granted ?

We've just had an email from the TDS to tell us the request has been made and granted. It worries me: what evidence is she cooking up?

"I sent a reputable cleaner around and she said that you had no cleaning materials at all she had to use washing up liquid to clean the shower and cooker hood
and she wiped all the skirtings again with the washing up liquid"

I would have thought a "reputable cleaner" would bring their own cleaning materials. And anyway why would the LL expect you to leave cleaning materials when you'd moved out?
  • Contact the TDS and tell them you are not happy with the decision to grant an extension. You have the same rights of access as the LL has, in your situation it is the LL who has to supply the information, but with out a inventory she has not got a leg to stand on. Also if the cleaner went in before the new tenancy started, then why has a report not been sent to you. Is the property fully managed by an agent?
Be-littling somebody only make's you look a bully.
Any comments I make on here are my opinions, having worked in the lettings industry, and through life.

There is an agency involved, but I don't know if it's fully managed. There was certainly no check-in or check-out. They've also been worse than awful. I must have rung them at least 20 times and was constantly told they'd "look into it it and call back". They never did.

Can I just clarify what you mean by rights of access?

That was exactly our point! She's actually referring to the cleaner she sent round after we moved into the place, which was completely filthy. Funnily enough, it wasn't much better after this reputable cleaner cleaned with washing up liquid!
