I find it highly unlikely that a purchase made yesterday in the UK shows as completed today - earlier today at that, that's on a UK bank card, let alone a Spanish one.
Does your account show that you are missing any amount or does available balance and transactions all tally?0 -
My account is now showing a balance less the €100. The money has left my account.0
-
so for example does it say:
Balance 1000
Available Balance 900
Its only truly left your account if there is a finalised transaction line in your transactions list that itemises the amount, and the person that payment is to - does this exist in your account?0 -
Balance and available balance both say €12.18
The item is detailed with date time amount establishment and authorization code.
The purchase i tried to make later in the daynthat was declined has the same information minus the auto code.0 -

In that case you need to speak to your spanish bank again, they are the only ones who can advise and action. Asda authorised your card, have given you a receipt for the amount they were paid and your bank has removed the whole amount.
I suspect this money might appear back in your account in a few days, it really doesn't sound normal that a transaction is authorised, closed, charged and finalised in 24hrs.0 -
Thanks for evrypnes input will see what happens.over the next few day0

Why? It's becoming the norm now, even for pay at pump transactions. It's almost instantaneous. I can make a transaction one day, morning or evening. More often than not it's a finalised transaction on my account the next afternoon. Under 24 hours in a lot of cases0 -

It doesn't happen on my four credit cards and two debit cards from five different financial institutions...it shows as reserved funds, but never a completed transaction in 24 hours...0 -

Well that's your experience.
Me and the OH have 3 bank accounts, 4 credit cards between us over 5 banks.
On our bank accounts more often than not, we have card transactions which are done in 24 hours or less.
So because you don't experience it, doesn't mean the op is mistaken, which is the tone you've given. It does happen.
If she says it is out, and a completed transaction viewable online, I think she's probably right. I've seen it. P@P transactions complete really quickly on my account.0 -
I have been in touch with my bank again today and they are registering a reclaim f this transaction. The fund have cleared my account and were paid to asda as the original printout suggested. This was not an pre authorised or reserved amount and the transactions are almost instantaneous. I have been advised that when a pre authorisation is taken it is for a smaller amount and then the fuel pump is replaced the difference is taken straight away. However this is only ever shown through the an merchant company and should never appear as far as a customers account.0
